Although our roots are in supercomputing, HPTi's dedication to meeting the technology needs of America has led us into a variety of technical areas. Computational Science – HPTi computational scientists work at the forefront of high performance scientific computing and high-end, physics-based, peta- and exo-scale modeling, supporting the interface between basic research and applied research and development (R&D). They apply their high performance computing technology knowledge and expertise to provide their clients with cutting-edge computation and applications development, optimization, and support. HPTi's scientists work across a wide spectrum of domains, ranging from climate research to nanotechnology and material modeling.
Enterprise Technology and Planning – Our knowledge leaders work with our customers to envision a program from concept through deployment and support. We identify and mitigate the risks inherent with large-scale federal IT modernization efforts. By applying program architecture – the integration of enterprise and systems architecture planning, program management, and technology insight – we guide our clients through the complex decisions necessary to achieve their missions.
Systems Architecture and Engineering – Successful major-systems acquisitions rely on two key elements: a foundational architecture and disciplined systems engineering. HPTi designs, develops, assesses, and improves these foundational systems architectures. We build and use model-oriented and simulation-based systems engineering methodologies for systems ranging from tactical, single-user platforms to multi-billion-dollar weapons programs. These methodologies enable customers to handle dynamic, emergent user needs and directly reduce program failure. We also perform technology and program assessments, trade studies, system-of-systems evaluations, and risk assessments – all of which enhance efficiency by identifying system complexities (such as interoperability, end-to-end performance, and layered interfaces). HPTi lays the foundation for program success through early lifecycle activities, including analysis of alternatives, planning and scenario analysis, system modeling, and prototyping.
Secure Mission Software Development – HPTi's technical architects and software engineers deliver secure, software-intensive systems to meet a broad set of mission-critical customer requirements. Addressing our customers' most difficult problems, HPTi engineers apply their knowledge and experience in agile development, advanced analytics, multi-layer cyber-secure architectures, data-intensive scalable processing architectures, cloud computing, and mobile delivery. We've built mission-critical, operational systems ranging from in-theater tactical clouds for intelligence analysis and distribution, to systems that transmit multi-billion-dollar transactions over the public internet, to highly sensitive anti-terrorism support systems for the law enforcement community. Knowledge Discovery and Visualization – We enable our customers to gain insight from their myriad information sources through solutions like business analytics, data analytics, and scientific visualization. For law enforcement clients, we apply pattern recognition and deploy secure enterprise-search technologies to identify threats and enact countermeasures. Our intelligence solutions model complex social networks, revealing previously hidden associations that inform effects-based operations. For the science community, we develop data visualizations to gain insight into areas such as nanotechnology, materials science, and climate-change analysis.
